In the deep forests and across the endless highlands of the old North, there lived an idea of the complete hunter. Not the one who took the most game, but the one who mastered the whole land. River. Forest. Mountain.
Among hunting parties and chieftain followers, there was said to be a trial so demanding that few even dared to attempt it. Within one single sun cycle, the hunter had to harvest three realms of Nordic life.
A wild trout from flowing water.
A moose from the deep forest.
A reindeer from the open mountain plateau.
From first light to last dusk.
Within one single day.
Those who succeeded were said to have walked the Honourable Path to Valhalla. Not as warriors, but as hunters of the entire land. People able to read water, tracks, wind, and terrain in one continuous effort through Nordic wilderness.
For centuries, this lived only as myth. A nearly impossible journey that required one person to master three ecosystems, three hunting forms, and three landscapes within the same day.
At Baryonyx, we have made the myth real.
It has become what we now call the Baryonyx Grand Slam.
One of the most extreme hunting challenges in the world.
Here, not only hunters are separated.
Landscapes are separated.
North and South.
Two worlds.
Two trials.
Southern Grand Slam — Østerdalen
The classic triad of inland trout, forest moose, and mountain reindeer within one unbroken 24-hour journey across the forests and highlands of Østerdalen. River, boreal forest, and alpine plateau connected in one continuous hunting route where precision, logistics, and endurance decide success.
Available only:
25–30 September
Northern Grand Slam — Finnmark
The northern version is larger, wilder, and more demanding. Here the hunter must master three fish species in addition to land game. Arctic char, trout, and salmon from river or lake, combined with moose and tundra reindeer, all within the same 24-hour cycle across the vast landscapes of Finnmark.
Available only:
01 July – 31 July
Two regions.
Two different Grand Slams.
One idea.
To master all living water and land available within a single northern day.
Performance is measured in pure quality and efficiency. Fish weight. Moose carcass weight. Reindeer trophy class. All balanced against the time used across the landscapes. This is not simply hunting. It is pace, decisions, and control under pressure.
Participation is strictly limited in both regions. Only a very small number of hunters each year are given the opportunity to attempt it. This is not a trip. It is a trial. One of the most demanding hunting journeys available in the modern world.
Those who succeed are still said to have walked the Honourable Path to Valhalla.
Do you want to know if you are among the few who can attempt it?
